Thanks to the scouting mission, we knew right where we needed to go to get to the pool we’d decided on the day before. As Owen was changing out of his clothes, a tour group saw what we were doing and came over to watch.

After our gracier tour in Whittier, we knew the time had come to make our way off the Kenai Peninsula for the last time. Having spent a month in the area, we’d fully fallen in love with this part of Alaska.

Our episode picks back up in Girdwood, Alaska as I prepare to try to surf the bore tide again. While we were elsewhere on the peninsula I had been studying the tide charts in preparation for our return.

Before we ever left for Alaska my brother Erick and bonus sister Julie invited us out for a unique experience. Erick and Julie hunt to provide themselves with the entirety of their meat needs. Julie was drawn from a lottery based system to hunt for a Mountain Goat in a very specific area in the backcountry of the Kenai Wilderness.

We return from Katmai National Park and head onto the Kenia Peninsula for the first time. Our first stops are Girdwood, Whittier and then onto Homer where we venture out on the water with new friends.

In this blog post we do a deep dive into the logistics for planning a visit to Katmai National Park and Preserve. The park isn’t accessible by road thus it takes a little extra planning and strategy to get to.

This episode picks back up right after we left Talkeetna, AK. Driving south we climb into the mountains to explore the highly anticipated Hatcher Pass. Even though we didn’t know a ton about the area, we’d heard nothing but great things about it which made us excited to get there and see it for ourselves!

Our episode picks back up at the Wonder Lake campground in Denali National Park and Preserve. It was our last day before catching the bus back to our truck. Though we were sad to be leaving, the weather took a turn for the worse. We hopped on the bus just as it started to rain.

After staying with my brother for 16 days we were back on the move and ready to head to our next destination in Denali National Park!

We start our journey off as we arrive in Haines, Alaska after spending a week in Juneau. Our goal was to take the ferry all the way to the northern part of Alaska, but due to COVID and Canadian Border closures there was an influx of people relying on the ferry to get north. By the time we booked our trip they were booked and as far north we could make it to Haines.

Juneau was our first official stop in Alaska! We’d heard wonderful things about the area and looked forward to a week of stopping in the state capitol.

It’s hard to believe this day has finally come. This is a project that’s been in the works for nearly a year now… Our first episode of our series Lost & Found documenting our travels and the lessons learned from them as we traveled through Alaska this summer.

MAK here! Owen and I have been a little quiet on our end working on a bunch of things such as our new video series and we wanted to bring you all up to speed on everything to look forward to!

As people who love to be active it’s important to us to get regular excersize as we travel. However, it can be hard to make that happen depending on the season and climate we’re in. So we’ve found that the best way to get consistent exercise is actually to have a few different options at any given time.

Our friends over at Four Wheel Campers asked if we’d be interested taking a test trip in two of their demo rigs. Not ones to pass up such a fun sounding opportunity we immediately turned to our friends Chase and Aimee of Tight Loops and asked if they’d be interest in trading in their Vanagon for two weeks to travel in a FWC!
